IBC Tote FAQs
What is the difference between food-grade and industrial IBC totes?
Food-grade IBCs are manufactured and handled to FDA standards. They have clean histories (only stored food-safe products) and undergo more rigorous cleaning. Industrial IBCs may have held chemicals or non-food products.
Can I use a used IBC for drinking water storage?
We recommend only using new or certified food-grade IBCs that have only stored potable liquids for drinking water. Used IBCs that previously held other products should not be used for drinking water, even after cleaning.
How long do IBC totes last?
A quality IBC can last 5-10+ years with proper care. The plastic bottle has a UV lifespan of about 5 years in direct sunlight. The steel cage can last indefinitely with proper maintenance.
What is a rebottled IBC?
A rebottled IBC features a brand new HDPE bottle installed in a cleaned and inspected used cage. This gives you new-bottle performance at used-cage pricing - often 40-50% less than a completely new unit.
Do you buy back used IBC totes?
Yes! We purchase used IBC totes in any condition. Clean, food-grade units fetch the highest prices, but we accept all types. Contact us for a quote on your surplus IBCs.
Can IBC totes be pressure washed?
Yes, the HDPE bottles can handle pressure washing. However, we recommend professional cleaning for food-grade applications. We offer cleaning services to ensure proper sanitation.
